
There is an open meeting every month except July and August. These occur usually on the first Thursday in the month at 2 PM at the Rugby Club in Kelso.
The meetings are open to all members and those interested in joining. There are no entry or additional fees but raffle tickets cost 50p each. Meetings usually consist of a speaker, a raffle, a book & DVD exchange and a chance to socialise. There is a collection box for ink jet cartridges to be recycled for charity.
Free refreshments are available after the speaker. Please remember to bring your own mug to reduce waste.

Neil‘s presentation brought attention to the variety of challenges blind and partially sighted people face every day and how best to provide support in their day to day lives.

We were given a look at the history of The Trimontium Trust over the past 30 years as the guardian of the site of the most important Roman Fort in Scotland.

The talk this month was by a staff member from the Borders Pet Rescue in Earlston, explaining the origin and purpose of the centre.
Chair Jerry Strachan then gave the meeting a crash course in sign language.

In January 2023, Jane Nimmo achieved a lifelong ambition to visit Antarctica. As part of her time there, she participated in several citizen science projects and became enthralled by the beauty and fragility of such a special place. Through captivating photographs, Jane spoke about why Antarctica is such a special place in our world.

We held our own celebration of the life and words of Robert Burns.
Entertainment was by a collaboration of various u3a Groups; Play Reading, Poetry for Pleasure and Singing for Fun.
Burns's famous Address to the Haggis was performed and Andrew Wilson told us about Burns life and loves.

Kenny McLean - Great Weather Events of the Borders - 9.1.25.
Local historian Kenny visited us and gave an illustrated talk on the worst storms, floods and temperature extremes to hit our area over the centuries.

The speaker was Olga Douglas on "The Life and Works of Carl Fabergé".
We discovered all about the famous goldsmith and jeweller. He is best known for creating the Imperial Eggs made in the style of genuine Easter eggs but using precious metals and gemstones.
